Spring Recital Celebrates Learning and Growth of Students and Teachers
Sounds of student performances filled the University United Methodist Church on Saturday, April 7, 2018 at the Musical Empowerment at UNC-Chapel Hill Spring Recital. Over 80 teacher-student pairs participated, representing a variety of ages and instruments. Students and teachers performed for family, friends and community members in three separate rooms, and everyone joined together at the end of the performances for photos, refreshments and fellowship.
At the end of the recital, students walked proudly to the stage as they received an award hand-picked for them by their teacher. Graduating senior teachers were also honored with flowers for their commitment to teaching during their time as undergraduates at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Senior ME teacher, Courtney, and her student, Anjolique played the beautiful "Waltz in A Major" by Mozart.
It was a very special moment when brothers Joshua and Josiah asked at the end of the recital to say a few words about their Musical Empowerment teacher of 7 years, Katharine. They expressed their heartfelt appreciation for Katharine as a teacher and role model over the years. You can watch Joshua and Josiah’s performances below.
