Senior Reflections

May 14, 2020

To say that Musical Empowerment had a life-changing effect on me is an understatement. In my role both as a teacher with ME and as Co-President of the UNC Chapter, I constantly was inspired to grow. Though there were certainly plenty of challenges throughout–whether it was convincing my rambunctious students to focus during their lesson, or making the difficult decision of which applicants to admit at the beginning of the semester–the smiling faces of students and teachers always helped me to put those challenges in perspective. Every week, I’m able to see just how much of an impact Musical Empowerment makes on everyone involved in it. I’ve heard from so many parents about how grateful they are to give their children the opportunity to learn an instrument, and from so many teachers about how much they value the relationship that they’ve built with their student. I’m humbled to have had the chance to be a part of this organization, and I plan to remain involved in whatever way I can.
